I guess most of us have days in the office when we let our minds wander and imagine how life would be on the other side of the world - the photos of lush palm trees in the magazine by the computer, the roaring surf breaking as you sip on a cool coconut juice drink served by an attractive tanned island girl.
Could I photograph scenes like this? Your mind continues to conjure up the idyllic, the strees-free beach life, the freshly caught cod for dinner tonight!! Life can't be this good - what about the down side - endless long-distance flights, too much luggage, lost passport, how do I find the work? Are my photographs good enough to sell? The world has become a dangerous place - a good adventurous spirit and the right skills might just make it work......damn it , I'll give it a go.........
Media studies have been taken up by past and present relatives so it was now my turn to study photography at tech college - learn to understand the camera and what the eye sees - hopefully train both sides of the brain and complete a journalism course. It made sense - capture saleable images and tell the story - this could be my version of photojournalism - the story in images and words, my words, my photographs!
This website is the result of many years work with the camera (and the wetsuit and dive regulator) Wow, what a journey.
